Allana Buick & Bers Architectural Engineering selected by Rafael Vinoly Architects, PC to provide Building Envelope Consulting Services for Pennsylvania State University and Stanford University

PALO ALTO, CA October 22, 2008 - Allana Buick & Bers, Inc. (ABB) announces the award of two consultant contracts from Rafael Vinoly Architects PC, for building envelope consulting services for the Pennsylvania State University, Millennium Science Complex in University Park, Pennsylvania, and Stanford University, School of Engineering in Palo, Alto, California.

Penn State's Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences and the Material Research Institute is constructing a new, multi-functional building to centralize shared facilities for materials testing. According to University President Graham B. Spanier, “This new high-tech facility that we have planned will spawn discovery and drive innovation by bringing together under one roof, faculty and students from a multitude of disciplines such as chemistry, engineering, biology, medicine, and physics.”

“We are pleased to be a consultant to Rafael Vinoly Architects on this project knowing the renowned reputation of Penn State’s Life Sciences and Material Research Institute,” said Gerson Bers, Principal of Allana Buick & Bers. The scope of services includes below-grade waterproofing, the design, detailing and integration of the building envelope, plaza deck, and roof garden components, along with construction administration services.

The Stanford University, School of Engineering, Phase II Nano Center, will consist of three new classroom and laboratory buildings with connecting underground elements at the existing Engineering Quad. Allana Buick & Bers scope of services includes below-grade and deck waterproofing, building envelope detailing and sustainability, roof construction and integration, and construction administration and monitoring.

ABB has also consulted with Rafael Vinoly Architects PC on other projects including the Vdara Condominium Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada, and the Jebel Ali Zone 1 Central Plaza in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
