Allana Buick & Bers, Inc. (ABBAE) was retained by Bohlin, Cywinski and Jackson Architects (BCJ) to provide building enclosure consulting services for the new City Hall Complex located in Newport Beach, California. The City of Newport Beach retained ABBAE to provide construction monitoring services for the building envelope.

ABBAE worked with Bohlin Cywinski Jackson (BCJ) on the new Civic Center complex for the City of Newport Beach. BCJ was awarded the project after a design competition. The City Hall will be a one-level steel-framed building on a challenging sloped site. The 85,000 SF building will step up on the site in 18” increments.

ABBAE provided building enclosure design and consulting services for below grade waterproofing systems, curtain wall and storefront wall systems. We also provided design consultation for the unique applied rib curved PVC roofing system which will be a highly visible design feature.

ABBAE also provided consulting assistance in joining the new library building addition to an existing structure. The library expansion will need a watertight and seismically appropriate connection to an existing building which had previous waterproofing failures.

ABBAE’s proven expertise in building enclosure consulting and prior experience with similar public facilities were the deciding factor in being retained by BCJ Architects.
