Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport is the second largest and sixth busiest airport in the world. The Airport Board manages over 332 facilities totaling over 6.1M square feet of roof area. The facilities range in age from two to twenty-two years with the majority of the structures constructed in 1972-1974 during the original Airport development.

ABB provides condition assessments to all board managed buildings and developed an integrated roof management database. The survey included visual inspection, core sample analysis, construction archive research, drawing file inventory and roof system prioritization. A relational database and management program was developed and integrated with the Airport’s existing CADD, financial and maintenance management software. The database was customized to meet format, query and functional needs of DFW Airport’s user groups.

The original Roof Program provided capital and maintenance budgets and has successfully directed the Airport’s roof management program since 1994. ABB has successfully supported the Airport’s leak repair contractor and roof warranty service programs since 1996.
