Allana Buick & Bers, Inc. (ABBAE) was retained by the Los Angeles County Law Library to provide investigation and assessment services of the library and top levels of an adjacent parking garage.
The Law Library campus includes the original building, a six-story concrete structure completed in 1953 which contains administrative services and six levels of book stacks. A 1968 addition has below-grade parking, a reading bay and additional book stacks. In 1971 a detached concrete parking structure was built. The total complex is approximately 175,000 SF.
ABBAE performed comprehensive leak and spalling investigation services for the LA Law Library. Based on our findings we provided remedial design and engineering, construction documents, and construction administration services. Our scope of work included façade and roof repair to the addition and spall repair, waterproofing and re-roofing of the original building. A concrete walkway connecting the Library and Parking Structure is being replaced.
