Allana Buick & Bers, Inc. (ABBAE) was retained by the University of California Davis (UCD) to provide building enclosure expert consulting services for leaks in the newly-constructed Mondavi Center for Performing Arts located on the UCD campus.
The Mondavi Center is a 104,000 SF, steel framed building containing two performance venues with performance, production and support spaces and reception areas. The facility was constructed in 2002 and sustained various reported leaks in roofing, window and wall systems dating from its initial completion.
ABBAE assisted the University California Office of the President Chief Counsel’s office in developing leak testing protocols required to identify leaking building envelope components and systems. ABBAE attended and documented testing by the project contractor and their experts. We also provided the University with ongoing expert consulting services in support of developing an understanding of the leakage issues and proposed remedial repairs procedures to be followed by the builder in remediation of the water intrusion and repairs to destructive testing.
